Corn, soy basis steady as planting continues
Basis bids for corn and soybeans were unchanged across the U.S. Midwest on Friday, spot checks of processing sites and grain elevators indicated, and cash grain movement was subdued as producers continued to work on planting both crops.
* Rains interrupted field work in some areas this week, particularly the southern Midwest and the Mississippi River Delta. Showers were expected to "build across the north-central Plains and northwestern Midwest this weekend and early next week," space technology company Maxar said in a daily crop weather note.
* Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) July corn futures (CN24) fell on Friday for a fourth straight session, retreating from four-month highs set earlier this week and discouraging farmer grain sales.
* CBOT July soybeans (SN24) rose about 1% but the contract remained below multi-month highs set on May 7.
