Australian shares poised to open higher, NZ shares up

Australian shares were set to open higher on Monday with a rise in commodity prices expected to push mining and energy stocks higher as traders assessed a slew of inflation data looking for clues on the central bank's monetary easing stance.

The local share price index futures (YAPcm1) rose 0.3%, a 44.1-point premium to the underlying S&P/ASX 200 index XJO close. The benchmark closed 1.4% lower on Friday.

New Zealand's benchmark S&P/NZX 50 index NZ50G rose 0.1% by 2237 GMT.
