Deep intraday data in Bar Replay

Oct 9

Premium and professional-tier plan holders now have access to deep historical intraday data in the Bar Replay mode. This is a huge step for traders, and we hope this latest update will help you build effective trading strategies.

Many of you requested more data in the Replay, and thanks to your feedback and our hard work, we’ve made it happen.

Now it’s possible to play absolutely all data available in TradingView’s data storage. For all time intervals, — whether it’s 1 hour, 1 minute or even 1 second — you’ll get access to the maximum depth of data history, and you’ll be able to play it in the Replay mode as far back as the symbol’s data is available on TradingView.

For some symbols, we have 1-minute data as far back as 2011, for some, back to 2009, while for others, the data can extend even further, back to 2000. So, you can play up to 20+ years of minute data in the Replay mode. Isn’t it great?

For all second-based timeframes, TradingView stores the data starting from August 2022, meaning that you already have access to two years of historical seconds data.

Please note, the amount of historical data may vary depending on the selected symbol and chart timeframe, and the length of intraday data may be shorter than on the daily-based timeframes. For example, if you play NASDAQ:AAPL on a daily timeframe, the daily history starts from December 12, 1980, while 1-minute AAPL data starts from January 3, 2000, and the earliest 1-second bar in the Replay dates to August 17, 2022.

You can check the availability of historical data for a specific symbol according to your subscription and chart timeframe, and then select the first bar of the available history as a starting point for replay using the Select the first available day button.

With this update, we’ve also provided more historical intraday data in the Bar Replay mode for the Plus plan:

  • Plus now supports 6 months of 1-minute data, up from the previous limit of 6 weeks.
  • For a 2-minute timeframe, this limit is doubled, and a year of 2-minute data is available; for 3-minute it is tripled, and 18 months of 3-minute data is available, and so on.
  • The higher the time frame selected, the more intraday data you can play.

Please note that this update is not applied to continuous futures charts — 1! and 2! symbols (for example, ES1!, BANKNIFTY1!), and to futures contracts with the enabled setting Use settlement as close on daily interval as they have their own intraday limitations due to their synthetic nature and it’s not possible to play more than 20K intraday bars in the Replay mode.

You will find more information about the Bar Replay feature and the amounts of data available for Bar Replay in the Help Center.

We hope you find this highly-requested update as useful as we believe it is, and please keep sending us your feedback and suggestions so we can make the platform the best it can be. We build TradingView for you, and we’re always keen to hear your thoughts.
