We keep on improving the platform and adding new features based on your requests. This time, let’s welcome our latest addition inspired by your feedback — the ability to select a replay interval in the Bar Replay mode. This enhancement provides flexibility in market simulation, so let’s get into the details.
The replay interval is the amount of time that covers one data update. For example, if the interval is set to 5 minutes, each tick in the Replay mode adds the amount of data equivalent to 5 minutes of data in real time.
You can easily adjust the replay interval by selecting it from the Replay control panel, the setting is located to the right of the replay speed menu. Clicking on the interval will open a menu with the available options for your specific chart.
Depending on the chart’s interval, the following minimum intervals are available in Replay:
- Second-based charts: minimum replay interval is 1 second.
- Intraday and daily charts: minimum replay interval is 1 minute.
- Weekly and monthly charts: playable only in one-day intervals.
For multi-chart workspaces, the available replay intervals are determined by the smallest selected interval across the charts. For example:
- If you have AAPL 5 min and AAPL 1 day charts open, replay intervals of 1 min and 5 min will be available.
- If your workspace includes AAPL 2 min and AAPL 17 min charts, the only available interval will be 1 minute, as it is the only value that evenly divides both intervals.
You can also select the “Same as chart” option, which keeps the replay interval matched to the current chart’s timeframe. If you choose the “Max available” option in a multichart layout with different chart timeframes, the highest common replay resolution will automatically apply to all charts in the layout.
