Nasdaq 100 Hovering Near Weekly Highs in a Volatile WeekNasdaq 100 Hovering Near Weekly Highs in a Volatile Week As shown on the 4-hour chart of the Nasdaq 100 (US Tech 100 mini on FXOpen), the index stood around the 21,600 level this morning, near the weekly high that formed at Monday’s open. This suggests that the tech-stock index has almost fully recovered from the decline triggered by the launch of AI from the Chinese startup DeepSeek. According to media reports: → Experts have pointed to signs that the Chinese startup used a technique known as “distillation” – in simple terms, this means that DeepSeek’s model extracted knowledge from more advanced models such as ChatGPT. In other words, this is not about innovation but rather an unfair practice. → Nassim Taleb believes that the sharp drop in NVDA shares is only the beginning of a potential market downturn inflated by AI-driven expectations. Further declines could be more significant than what we witnessed on Monday. Apart from news surrounding DeepSeek, traders were also focused on earnings reports from major corporations (which we will cover in detail in separate articles): → Tesla (TSLA) is holding above $400 in pre-market trading today, despite earnings per share falling short of expectations. Meanwhile, company executives believe that Trump’s policies could negatively impact Tesla’s operations. → Microsoft (MSFT) shares fell by more than 4%, Meta Platforms (META) surpassed $700 per share in post-market trading for the first time, and IBM surged by approximately 9%. Additionally, the fundamental backdrop became even more eventful following yesterday’s Fed updates, which, however, contained no surprises: → As expected, interest rates remained unchanged. → According to The Wall Street Journal, the Fed has entered a “Wait-and-See” phase, showing less confidence that inflation will continue to decline. The Nasdaq 100 (US Tech 100 mini on FXOpen) chart reveals that the price: → Tested a key support line (marked in blue) at the weekly low. → Remains within the red descending channel. From a bullish perspective, the red channel can be seen as a large-scale correction within the broader uptrend on higher timeframes. From a bearish perspective, the bearish gap that formed at Monday’s open may act as resistance. Whether bulls will be able to overcome this barrier in the near term will depend, among other factors, on the next batch of earnings reports from major tech companies. NASDAQ a look ahead...As the NASDAQ and other major U.S. Equity Indexes face the pressure of economic uncertainty, the price action between days show that investors are not quite convinced this bull run has seen its finish line. However, we shouldn't only be looking toward private investor sentiment, but also that of the Federal Reserve's presence in the market and how the bond market reflects the Fed's position moving forward. As shown here, the all time high for the TVC:NDQ is $22,133.22. Our position is that the NASDAQ must reclaim, retest, and continue beyond the all time high in order for us to continue our confirmation on the bull run. The path described should look as shown below... In this instance, we can assume the bull run should continue. However, we should also be prepared for an alternate scenario where investors leave risk assets behind to chase non-risk assets (bonds for example). This scenario would look as shown below. All though these are not the only two possible scenarios, we can most likely expect the future to play out in a similar fashion as the examples. As for the market metrics to keep an eye on, look to TVC:US10Y for any bond yield manipulation, FRED:RRPONTSYD for market liquidity metrics, and FRED:M1V for M1 money velocity. Furthermore, keep an eye on tariffs for consumer tech ( NASDAQ:AAPL , NASDAQ:NVDA , NYSE:TSM ) and military activity ( NYSE:LMT , NYSE:RTX , NYSE:NOC ). Lastly, keep an eye on the banking and financial sector for more than likely banking deregulations withing the coming years.

February 3–7: NAS100 Market Outlook & Has the Market Peaked? February 3–7, 2025 (The following is solely personal opinion, not investment advice. Please conduct your own assessment before making any decisions.) This is a market context update using Elliott Wave Theory. As shown in the chart, considering the Nasdaq bull market from the 2008 bottom to the present, there is a high probability that we are currently in a B Wave rebound within the ABC corrective wave. However, it remains uncertain how high the B Wave can rise. According to Elliott Wave Theory, the C Wave correction should fall below the bottom of the A Wave, which means for the Nasdaq cash index, the price could drop to at least 10,600, representing a 50%+ correction. Of course, this process may take several years. Scenario 1: The Market Has Not Peaked Yet I am watching price action within the 22,465–23,001 range. If this scenario holds, the weekly price needs to stay above 19,200, and the daily price must remain above 20,300. From a macro trend perspective, the market can still be cautiously bullish. Scenario 2: The Market Has Already Peaked If the price breaks below 20,300 quickly and remains below it, this could be the first technical confirmation that the market has topped. If this happens, we should see further consolidation around 21,000 next week, followed by a breakdown. However, if the price finds support above 21,200 and breaks upward, there is still a possibility of new highs and further gains. Last week, Nasdaq 100 moved in line with my previous analysis. On Friday, the price rebounded to the 21,600–21,700 target range before declining. If this decline breaks 20,300 swiftly, the probability of the market already peaking increases significantly. Typically, downward movements are faster than upward ones. The market took four days to rebound to the target range, so if the current trend holds, we should see a breakdown early next week (Monday–Tuesday) to confirm the trend. If the price fails to break lower between Monday and Wednesday and finds strong support or rebounds, the market could push higher and break new highs—this needs further observation. Deepseek & AI Industry Observations Over the past few days, I’ve read more about Deepseek and industry insights. One of the key cost-control strategies for training models is distillation, where a large model is used to train a smaller model. This suggests that Deepseek’s smaller models depend on larger ones and have certain limitations. Many industry experts have also stated that Deepseek’s emergence does not reduce AI investment and that the market may have overestimated its impact. As I am not an AI expert, I cannot verify the accuracy of these claims or whether Deepseek’s impact is overestimated. However, Anthropic CEO Dario mentioned in a post last week that AI model training costs are decreasing by 75% per year. A model that costs $100M to train in 2024 will only cost GETTEX:25M in 2025, and by 2026, the cost may drop below $5M. Dario also noted that this cost reduction trend is accelerating, meaning that early investments in AI without strong technical barriers and market dominance could be wiped out. The next few years will see explosive AI development, but many AI investments may fail. Competitive Perspective: Can the U.S. Maintain Its AI Lead? From a competitive standpoint, I do not believe the U.S. can maintain its AI dominance solely through investment. I strongly agree with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s AI development roadmap: The Four Stages of AI Development 1. Perception AI 2. Generative AI 3. Agentic AI 4. Physical AI According to Jensen, we are still in the Generative AI stage, where training models mainly rely on internet data. At this stage, the U.S. holds a huge advantage due to its leading semiconductor technology. However, when AI enters the physical realm, internet data will no longer be sufficient, and stable, large-scale data sources will be key to AI success. In this phase, China and India, with their vast populations, will have a major advantage. Since the Huawei incident, China has accelerated its chip R&D and manufacturing. While still lagging behind TSMC, tighter trade restrictions will further drive development in this sector. If a competitor to Nvidia emerges in China, what impact would that have on the high-valued U.S. tech sector? AI Bubble & Investment Strategy I believe Deepseek is just the beginning of exposing the AI bubble. While its direct impact may be overestimated, the fact that AI training costs are falling rapidly is undeniable. Investment Perspective From an investment standpoint, I believe that market price action is the ultimate confirmation. - For long-term views, take a macro approach. - For short-term decisions, use technical analysis.

NASDAQ 1D MA100 held. Strong rally ahead.Last week we took a look at Nasdaq's (NDX) Triangle and the buy signal that emerged on the short-term Support Zone (see chart below): The signal turned out to be successful and the price eventually hit our 21800 Target and got rejected again on the Lower Highs trend-line. Today an even stronger buy signal emerged, this time on a long term horizon as not only did the price touch the bottom (Higher Lows trend-line) of the August 2024 Channel Up but also hit the 1D MA100 (green trend-line). This is the 3rd test of this level in 2 weeks and the 3rd hold. Technically this is a Triple Bottom formation and one of the strongest buy signals. Two times already within this Channel Up we have seen Bullish Legs of +15.70%. NDQ100 Update - Overaction? Thanks for checking out our latest update. Today, we are looking at the NDQ100 daily chart. What a 48 hours we have seen. After a plunge that wiped off up to 1 trillion dollars and close to 600 million off Nvidia, we saw a fast fightback at the end of the session and a recovery on Tuesday. The crash occurred after Chinese Tech company DeepSeek shocked the AI world with a powerful LLM. Looking at the last price action, has support reformed? Will we see the new push higher after this last seller test? Buyers look interested, but we would like further confirmation with rallies that fill the gap or a test of the last high. NASDAQ: Perfect neutral setup for scalp buy.Nasdaq is neutral on its 1D technical outlook (RSI = 52.467, MACD = 38.030, ADX = 17.154) since the index has been consolidating for the past 6 weeks. This offers great opportunities to buy low and sell high. At the moment the 1H RSI oversold bounce indicates that we has started a similar Channel Up so Jan 13th and Jan 27th. The symmetric RSI level suggests that this is where the index pulls back to retest the 1H MA50 and then rebounds for a new HH. Next week plan, buy in the discount of daily range 21200This is my plan for next week on Nas. I´m suggesting to buy in the 4H demand zone(blue rectangle) in confluence with the "discount zone" of the daily range. Do not buy blindly on the entry line. Wait for a retest of the entry zone, combined with a bullish volume spike(cumulative delta). Monitor lower TF for entries like 5-15-30M. If you are beginner and don´t know how, when to enter, I usually update my trades when-if entry conditions are met. TP your trades partially and set your SL AFTER THE ENTRY.
