GPIX aims for consistent income and capital growth. It invests in the equity of companies included in its benchmark index, the S&P 500 which is composed of US large-cap stocks. The fund tries to maintain style, capitalization, and industry characteristics like its benchmark and mirrors the weighting of its components as far as practicable. GPIX mainly employs an options overlay strategy to generate income by selling call options on 25% - 75% of the portfolios equity investments. The fund may also use FLEX options or similar entities for added flexibility. Outside of its primary investment strategy, GPIX foresees additional income from firms that distribute dividends. In certain market conditions, a writing strategy for call options is anticipated to perform better compared to a portfolio without it. However, in a market with strong upward trends, the strategy can underperform. Notably, GPIX participates in frequent and active trading that may result in high portfolio turnover.
